We Knew Each Other Before
That instant connection, the unspoken energy, and why some people just feel like home from the start
“Important encounters are planned by the souls long before the bodies see each other.” Paulo Coelho
I’ve only met him a few times, but in just one moment the connection stroke, like a meteorite falling through earth at high speed. An unexpected entry to the stratosphere, and then boom, it just hits. The emotion is planted, the chemistry is there, but only for the two of us to see and feel; for the rest of the world is nothing. But for us, it is precious. Something to hold on to, dear.
You just feel it, like magnets pulling each other. It’s inevitable. For a second, the world ceased to exist. It’s just us both while the world is on pause. Blurry and distant. The music is far in the background. The sense of time has shifted; what felt like five minutes together, 5 hours went by. Time stops for us. It’s all irrelevant. The only thing that matters is our souls reconnecting.
Funny thing though, you guys just met. But as your eyes cross each other's paths, you feel the magnetic field through every one of your body cells. You’ve met in a past life.
I like the idea of past lives. I find it beautiful (maybe romanticizing?) that our souls don’t cease to exist and trespass the barrier of our body. To think that maybe that’s why the connection you have with that other person feels so deep, even though it’s so new. As if you knew them from before. You feel a sense of ease and comfort that comes only after long relationships. It is beyond our understanding. Maybe it is the souls that recognize each other, carrying a history together.
And it does not have to be romantic. It can go beyond romance. Because that connection can translate to a beautiful relationship, a beautiful understanding. That chemistry that will forever remain transforms into unconditional love and support.
Maybe some things aren’t meant to be understood. Maybe they’re just meant to be felt, and followed.
